As Gordon’s Wine Bar approaches its 130th year, our use of the full length of Watergate Walk is reaching its 10th anniversary. As many of our customers know, sitting outside on Watergate Walk on a sunny afternoon, or a chill winter’s day protected by our awnings, or most notably in the hubbub and fun of a busy evening, it is a place many people love to come to in the heart of our vibrant city.

Over the course of the next few weeks you will see changes to the outside area of Gordon’s. Ultimately this will lead to our customers being seated and served by our staff with no more free standing. Numbers will soon be limited to 168 people seated at any one time. The barrels have been replaced with tables and chairs, and each table will ultimately have an energy efficient parasol heater to keep you toasty on cold days.

These changes have arisen due to concerns raised by local residents about noise associated with the popularity of our terrace. Westminster Council have imposed new conditions through a new license that we must adhere to, in order to safeguard the future of Gordon’s Wine Bar.

We have now introduced beautiful new planters in the first part of the terrace to help implement the new conditions of the license as we can no longer have any customers in this area. These changes will bring about a new feel to our beloved terrace but the dedicated staff are committed to keep alive the true Gordon’s experience and let us not forget that the cave and the bar will remain the same!

Of course, as with any new changes to a long established set up, there will be some bumps on the road and kinks to smooth out so we thank you for your patience and understanding as we undertake this new journey.

We hope to see you soon,
The Gordon’s Wine Bar Team
