Come find a little corner of France in Gordon’s. We will open at 8am for all the early birds who want a taste of this year’s exceptional quality Beaujolais Nouveaux.

We will be offering a Full English Breakfast or Kedgeree with a glass of Beaujolais Nouveaux for £13.

This year we have a special supply which is top quality Beaujolais Nouveaux villages for £23.50 a bottle and £6.00 a glass.

For those that would rather hit snooze on the alarm a little longer why not join us for lunch with our ‘Plat du Jour’ with a glass of Beaujolais Nouveaux at the special price of £15.
Vintage report 2017
After a cool winter, we had a very dry spring, the grape picking is now over and the “first cuvée” has just been pressed. 2017 will be an outstanding vintage in South Burgundy.
After a very hot and dry summer, September brought rain back to the region and with it warm days and cool nights, perfect for the maturation of the grapes.
The quality will be excellent, the new vintage has a good well balanced body, is bursting with fruits (mulberries, black berries and wild cherries) softened by a fresh and crisp palate.
Our Beaujolais Nouveaux this year was sourced from Château de l’Hestrange, here’s a little biography from the owners:
Château de l’Hestrange
At an altitude of over 500m, château de l’Hestrange is suspended over the vineyards, dominating the saône valley. Overlooking mists and clouds, the estate finds its inspiration in different regions of the world.
The Estate was bought in April 2000 by Laurent Metge-Toppin, Oenologist, wine broker in London, and great-grand-nephew of Théodore de Lestrange, with his wife Blandine. Together they entirely renovated the main house, directing with passion this challenging project. The property and its gardens were designed to reflect the harmony and individuality sought after in the wines. The estate produces eight wines under the labels Beaujolais Villages and Burgundy. Each wine is unique, designed and produced with precision and passion. By combining new techniques of winemaking and respect for tradition, Laurent Metge-Toppin manages to create wines of character, both consistent and surprising.
