Gordon’s was delighted to take part in the London without Limits Festival 2014. In association with the Royal London Society for Blind People we held a specially prepared blindfolded wine tasting lunch. Having roused our regular and loyal wine tasters we gathered in the pretty York Gate Monument off Watergate Walk to settle down to an afternoon of delicious wine and food with a difference.
We were humbled to be introduced to Lauren, a new ambassador for the RLSB, who gave an insightful and moving account of her experiences of living with visual impairment and getting about town. Everyone then put on their blindfolds and settled into the afternoon sipping a variety of wines accompanied by a wonderful descriptive talk given by the lovely Mariette from Castlenau Wines! Tibi, our head chef, prepared an amazing menu full of textures and flavours to complement the array of wines.
It was a great chance to not only to enjoy the wine and food but to understand, just a little, what challenges visually impaired people face when out and about.
